This week, something historic happened in the House of Representatives. We voted on and passed the Elijah E. Cummings Lower Drug Costs Now Act.
There were many victories in H.R. 3, but the one that I want to share with all of you today is the victory we achieved on behalf of our community health centers.
Working in partnership with Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders in the Senate, I led the fight to secure $10 billion dollars over the next five years for our country’s community health centers. That tremendous investment is truly something to celebrate.
The Massachusetts 7th district boasts 15 community health centers.They are critical to addressing the health inequities impacting our communities, and serving our most vulnerable neighbors — from Cambridge to Roxbury.
Thank you for being on the A-Team and for being a part of this movement. It is because of your activism and support that we’re able to achieve victories like this one.
We’re up against corporate PACs, lobbyists, and special interests who will spend big to halt our progress. But with your support, I know that we can continue to dream big and fight for the change our country needs.
