I am in Michigan for the rest of this month. It has been a busy time in D.C. and we worked incredibly hard to move a lot of things in Congress.
One of the biggest wins we had in Congress was passing the Inflation Reduction Act. Not only is the Inflation Reduction Act going to address rising costs for Americans, but it’s going to bring serious investments toward clean energy so we can reduce carbon emissions drastically this decade. There is much more work to do though when we get back in September.
For the moment, I am looking forward to getting around the district, visiting small businesses and manufacturing facilities, meeting with seniors and veterans, touring farmer’s markets, meeting with mayors, attending town hall meetings, listening sessions, and much more.
We have a lot of serious issues we need to address as a community, from protecting our water, addressing chemical spills, and putting a stop to pollution from corporate polluters. We also need to tackle air emissions, long-term care solutions, broadband… the list goes on.
Most importantly, I’m looking forward to connecting with new voters in Michigan’s 6th District. A lot of voters saw my name on their ballot for the first time in the August primary election because Michigan has new maps this year.
One of my top priorities right now is to meet with these voters so they know that I’m listening to them and I’m in Congress to deliver for them. I wish I could meet everyone at a farmer’s market this Saturday, but that’s just not possible.
You know my least favorite part of this job is asking for money, but this election is so critical, Team. Not only is a MAGA Republican challenging my seat, but we have some big races up and down the ballot this election and we need to work hard to win.
