In just a moment, I’m going to ask if you can chip in to support my campaign for Arizona governor.

But first, I’d like to tell you a little bit more about why I’m running and why this race is so critical.

I was born and raised in Arizona, and I learned the value of service at a young age, through my family and through church. I went on to a career as a social worker, advocating for women in crisis.

In that job, I met with countless Arizonans who felt like they didn’t have a voice, and that their government wasn’t looking out for them. It was clear we needed a change — but to change our government, we needed to change the people working within it. So I ran for office — and I won.

In the state legislature and as Arizona’s Secretary of State, I’ve fought hard to help Arizonans get ahead: expanding Medicaid, protecting the right to vote, and delivering a safe, secure election in 2020, even in the face of death threats and attacks from the far-right.

John, let me tell you about my far-right opponent. While I’m focused on delivering solutions as Arizona’s next governor, Kari Lake would rather sow division and chaos. She’s built her campaign around the Big Lie, embraces neo-Nazis, endorses anti-Semitic, anti-LGBTQ candidates, and spews dangerous conspiracy theories at every opportunity.

Quite simply, Kari Lake is dangerous to Arizonans. She supports criminalizing abortion. She wants to put government cameras in our children’s classrooms. She’s been a vocal supporter of anti-democratic efforts to make it harder for people to vote. As governor, Kari Lake would take us backwards to a time with more restrictions and fewer personal liberties.

There is so much on the line this fall. Arizonans deserve a leader who will defend our fundamental rights and get to work solving the problems we face. I am that leader. Kari Lake is not.
