ERA—what happened, what’s next?

New York State recently passed a bill to update its constitution in order to include a wider variety of anti-discrimination protections and to strengthen reproductive health care access. This is huge progress, especially in light of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, but it will require major public mobilization in order to take effect. So, stay alert for actions you can take in the coming months and years to ensure no New Yorker has to fear discrimination based on their ethnicity, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, pregnancy status, and more.

Updates from the Activist-in-Residence Fellows

Marwa Eltahir and Jodi Nicole recently shared exciting developments from their projects as the 2022 RiseOut Activist-in-Residence Fellows. In the coming months, they will host community events that connect Black African LGBTQ+ and GNC communities across NYC through story-sharing, and a series of discussions with Black trans organizers about the importance of Black Pride in NYC.
