Welcome to Tuesday, August 23rd, corns and cobs...

States with more restrictive abortion laws tend to have less access to quality maternal care and social services.

States with abortion bans tend to have more people living in maternity care deserts, meaning counties where access to things like hospitals with obstetric care, birth centers and certified nurse midwives, health care providers, and health insurance coverage is limited or nonexistent.

Studies continuously find that comprehensive reproductive and sexual education, contraceptives, and abortion access are essential to reducing unwanted pregnancy, abortion rates, and pregnancy-related deaths.

Do you support abortion access in America?

Dairy Farmers Protest the Netherlands' Nitrogen Emission Cuts

Dairy farmers in the Netherlands are protesting a new government plan to cut nitrogen emissions in half by 2030. The agenda puts the Netherlands in line with the European Union’s requirements to protect nature reserves, which dairy farmer believes targets them disproportionately.

The farmers have set fire to hay and manure alongside highways, dumped trash onto busy roads, and blockaded food distribution centers with tractors, leading to a supply chain issue.

Agriculture is the number one emitter of nitrogen in the Netherlands.

Should more countries implement similar emission cuts?

Alternative Self-Pay Pharmacy Options Grow Amidst High Medication Prices

A growing number of “cash” or "self-pay" pharmacies and companies are offering medications at discounted prices by operating outside the U.S. insurance system and avoiding fees and rules that inflate prices.

91% of prescriptions in the U.S. are filled through insurance, and the burden of tracking down cheaper options falls largely on patients. The costs of drugs depend on a number of factors including health insurance policies, individual pharmacies, and pharmacy benefit managers (PBM) who handle prescription benefits for insurance companies.

How do you feel about America’s drug pricing and health insurance system?
