friend, the Hallmark Channel holiday movies are a family tradition -- but apparently, the Hallmark Channel wants to exclude families that are LGBTQ. This week, the Hallmark Channel refused to air commercials for Zola, a wedding planning website, that featured two brides kissing.

In response to this incident, GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis issued the following statement: "The Hallmark Channel’s decision to remove LGBTQ families in such a blatant way is discriminatory and especially hypocritical coming from a network that claims to present family programming and also recently stated they are ‘open’ to LGBTQ holiday movies."

Zola has already pulled all of its ads from the Hallmark Channel in protest, and GLAAD plans to reach out to other advertisers and ask them to follow suit. GLAAD has already appeared on CNN, the Associated Press, Buzzfeed, and NBC Nightly News to defend LGBTQ families and our media campaign has just started. We can’t allow anti-LGBTQ groups to bully networks into excluding LGBTQ people from the airwaves, friend -- it’s crucial that we capitalize on this moment to make our voices heard in a swift and decisive victory for inclusion, acceptance, and love.
