Dear
Reader,
Death by -ism. This is a risk for any discussion of faith and public life. Frameworks are important, but the attribution of an -ism often acts to short-circuit dialogue rather than to encourage it.

Yet you and I both recognize that such discussions are critical. What kind of public authority should religious believers seek for God’s revelation? What does the Christian acknowledgement that Jesus is Lord mean in a liberal political culture like our own? How and to what extent should Christian politicians use their power to advance substantive, faith-informed ends?

I hope you’ll join New York Times columnist Ross Douthat and me as we grapple with these questions and more at our October 3 event in Chicago, “Christian Faith and Political Power: A Conversation with Ross Douthat.” To register, please click on the button below:

Thanks to our co-host, the Athenaeum Center for Thought and Culture, tickets to this event are complimentary with a suggested $35 donation. Reserve your ticket now at www.athenaeumcenter.org/events.

Perhaps, if all goes well, you'll re-evaluate a few -isms along the way!
Yours,
R. R. Reno
