Bernie is very proud of this fact

Friends -

In just a few hours, we’re closing the books on an important mid-month fundraising deadline we’ve set for our campaign. And as we look at the numbers, we’re facing a bit of a dilemma.

You see, we still have more individual donations than anyone else. By a lot.

But the truth is, over the course of this entire campaign, our average contribution has been steadily in decline. In 2016, it was $27. On this campaign, it started about there and has gone lower and lower ever since. This month, it’s about $16.

Now, this is a great problem to have, but here’s why it’s also a challenge: for each $2,800 max-out check flooding into this election to stop us, we need 175 donations to keep up.

So there are two ways we can close the gap:

So far on this campaign, most people contributing online for the first time are giving $2.70.

Today, if you’re able, we’d like to ask if you can chip in $10 to help us run the kind of campaign it will take to win this primary. Most of our campaign’s funding comes as a result of emails like this one, so that’s why we’re asking you directly:

Can you make a $10 contribution to our campaign before our mid-month fundraising deadline ends at midnight tonight? If we’re in this together, we are going to win this primary, beat Trump, and transform our country.

Bernie is very proud of the way we are funding this campaign. In fact, he is thrilled that our average donation is lower than it was in 2016.

It means that this is truly a grassroots campaign built by a record number of people donating small-dollar contributions. Thank you for chipping in to make that possible.

In solidarity,

Faiz Shakir
