John,
Last week, we announced our first TV ad buy with reservations in major markets across Texas.
In a moment, we are going to ask you to pitch in a donation to help us get these ads in front of millions of voters across Texas. But first, we wanted to take a moment to explain why this is such a big deal and answer some FAQs.
Why are we launching this ad now?
Greg Abbott’s support has plummeted as Beto has cut the gap in this race by 10 points, but millions of Texans still need to hear about the full extent of Abbott’s extreme agenda. Our new ads will tell the truth about his actions and hold him accountable for his failures.
What are the most important things Texans need to know about Abbott?
Greg Abbott signed the nation’s most extreme abortion bill into law with no exception for rape or incest, even though 82% of Texans reject his radical ban. Greg Abbott has also done absolutely nothing to stop the next school shooting after six major mass shootings on his watch, even though a majority of Texans think he should call a Special Session and take action.
What do you think the ad will accomplish?
At every town hall we’re hosting in communities across Texas during our 49-day Drive for Texas, we’re seeing voters of every background — including many Republicans and Independents — choose Beto’s positive, unifying vision once they see it compared to Abbott’s extremism.
Our new TV ads will make the choice in this race clear to millions of additional Texans. If we can air ads across Texas in the weeks to come, we will grow the broad coalition of voters we need to win.
How can I help?
Our initial ad buy was made possible by grassroots donors, and we couldn’t be more grateful. But keeping these ads in front of voters is expensive — especially in a state as big as Texas. It costs roughly $1,485,000 to go live in the top four major TV markets just for a week.
Together, we will ensure every Texan knows about Abbott’s dangerous extremism, deadly incompetence, and nonstop failures that continue to hold this state back. Texas deserves better.
Thanks for your help,
Team Beto
