While speaking at an event last week, my glucose meter kept beeping.
Usually, I try to hurry and silence it. But this time, I stopped to check
my level in front of the room. Let me tell you why:
I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes over 20 years ago. I found out when I
woke up in the hospital after passing out in high school. I was there for
a week.
Every day since, I've taken 2 forms of insulin just to stay alive, and I'm
not alone. The CDC estimates that one in every ten Americans has diabetes.
That's 37.3 million of us who depend on insulin for survival.
We've become used to predatory politicians like Rand Paul, who
successfully fought to remove a $35 insulin price cap from the Inflation
Reduction Act. What we need are more people who understand us in Congress.
[ [link removed] ]I won't stand by while Republican leaders make life harder and harder
for us while they profit. That's exactly why I'm running for Senate. Will
you commit to a $5 donation to help get me there?

Just to be clear, insulin should be free. The proposed $35 cap on insulin
in the Inflation Reduction Act was the floor.
But Rand Paul made sure millions of hardworking Americans would get no
relief from the burden of paying exorbitant amounts for our lifesaving
medicine.
The only reason insulin is so expensive is because the higher price tag
puts more money in the pockets of Big Pharma execs and their shareholders.
I don't think that's right, and the majority of Americans agree. As the
next Senator for Kentucky, I will always push back against the business as
usual model that puts our health last.
[ [link removed] ]I'm asking you to stand with me and chip in $5 today so
I can get to the Senate and fight for OUR interests, not corporate
interests. Can I count on your support?
Together,
Charles
