Dear John,
As a representative, I feel it is important to keep my constituents and supporters informed about what I’ve been working on. Here are some things I’ve been doing lately:
1. In Columbus, Sen. Jon Ossoff and I talked about the Inflation Reduction Act and how it will help Georgians by addressing climate change, health care, and tax issues. This bill will reduce the prices of prescriptions and health care costs, and includes a $35 cap on insulin for seniors on Medicare.
2. I joined the U.S. Department of Agriculture Under Secretary for Rural Development Xochitl Torres Small for a news conference. The USDA announced that the Clinch Hospital Authority will receive $498,200 to test, vaccinate, and treat COVID-19 as part of the American Rescue Plan. This is an important investment in health care for rural Georgians.
3. With a bicameral and bipartisan group of my colleagues, I am calling on the IRS to resolve customer service issues, processing delays, and the backlog of returns. The IRS must come up with a plan to address these problems affecting taxpayers.
I’m working to help Middle and Southwest Georgia reach its full potential, but I need your support to continue. If you’re able, please consider making a contribution to my re-election campaign.
Thank you,
Congressman Sanford D. Bishop
