We’ll get straight to the point: Derrick Van Orden thinks he can use leftover campaign funds to bankroll a trip to Washington, D.C., to attack the U.S. Capitol.

Following his defeat in 2020, Van Orden spent $4,000 from his campaign account on transportation and hotel expenses for himself, his wife, and a campaign staffer in Washington, D.C., on January 6, 2021.

Van Orden reluctantly admits he was a part of the mob who surged onto the U.S. Capitol grounds — and images from Jan. 6 show him on the steps of the Capitol, having broken through the police barricades.

Of course, Van Orden claims he just happened to be in Washington at that time on official business and for legitimate reasons, even though he had lost the election weeks before.

Here’s the truth, team: Van Orden spent campaign donor dollars to fund a trip to Washington, D.C., and storm the seat of our democracy.

And that’s a gross misuse of campaign funds. Van Orden has shown the voters of WI-03 that he is devoid of integrity and any moral compass.

We don’t need a Member of Congress who plays loose with the truth.
