Louis DeJoy is running the U.S. Postal Service into the ground. Why hasn’t he been fired?!

Hi,

Louis DeJoy is at it again.

First, this Trump-appointed postmaster general announced plans to buy 50,000 gas-guzzling, polluting postal trucks that get less than 9 miles per gallon.1

Then he said that he’s going to eliminate 50,000 U.S. Postal Service jobs, inevitably leading to worse service and slower mail delivery.2

Now DeJoy says he plans to raise the price of postage again, after raising the cost of a first-class stamp to 60 cents just last month.3

When Donald Trump was defeated for reelection, that should have been the end of his corrupt postmaster general. But because of inaction by the Postal Service Board of Governors and Congress, DeJoy is still there, pushing Trump’s agenda and running the USPS into the ground.

Louis DeJoy must go, and Demand Progress is helping make that possible. Will you make a donation to support our work, including turning up the pressure to save the U.S. Postal Service?

DeJoy’s list of scandals and misdeeds is jaw-dropping, even by the standards of the Trump administration:

  • DeJoy donated nearly $700,000 to Trump’s Republican National Convention before being rewarded by Trump with the postmaster general job.4
  • During his tenure, on-time mail delivery declined from 92% to 61% while postal rates went up.5
  • He’s under investigation for campaign finance law violations and conflicts of interest.6,7
  • Delivery slowdowns delayed ballots during the 2020 presidential election, and similar problems are being reported in this year’s midterm primaries.8
  • He announced plans to buy 50,000 gas-guzzling mail trucks despite rising gas prices and in defiance of the Biden administration’s climate plan. He agreed to increase the number of electric vehicles only after facing multiple lawsuits.9

The good news is that pressure is rising on DeJoy. He’s facing lawsuits, campaign finance investigations, and pressure from the postal workers union, members of Congress, and consumers.

Demand Progress has driven in more than 200,000 signatures to Congress and the White House urging them to act. We helped pass historic legislation to reform the postal service and safeguard its long-term survival. We helped secure confirmation of President Biden’s nominations for the Postal Service Board of Governors to end the gridlock preventing action.

Now it’s time to finish the job. Will you donate $10 to support our work, including turning up the heat to get rid of Louis DeJoy and save the U.S. Postal Service?

With gratitude for all you do,

Tihi and the team at Demand Progress Action
