As Attorney General, I hear from Coloradans across our state about the cost of housing as well as unfair treatment and unlawful evictions by unscrupulous property managers. Recently in Gunnison, I met with community members from a mobile home park. They shared stories of mistreatment, poor access to water, and basic maintenance needs going unrepaired. That’s not right. |
We have worked hard to respond to these concerns––and we have more work to do. In Southeast Colorado, we developed an innovative program that works with community colleges to train workers to rehabilitate dilapidated housing, expanding both the number of qualified home contractors in rural areas and increasing rural housing stock.
We advocated for new laws to strengthen protections for those living in mobile home parks, established a fair housing unit in our office, and took specific actions against bad actors. For example, we recovered $146,000 for Colorado tenants, illegally kept from them by an out-of-state company.
As the People’s Lawyer, I am committed to showing up, listening to you and your neighbors, and working for all Coloradans to get results. Please share our video about our fight for affordable housing, or consider making a donation so we can continue this important work. |
