Introduced the Achieving Through Transparency and Accessibility for Information Navigation (ATTAIN) On Mental Health Act Providing access to mental health resources, especially in rural communities, has never been more important. That’s why I am proud to help introduce this bipartisan legislation that will improve awareness and transparency for mental health funding. This bill will provide schools, local governments, and other community organizations in TX-23 with the proper tools they need to learn about existing funding opportunities and life-saving resources. Migrant Encounters Reach 2 Million This Year We aren’t even to September, and there have already been a record-breaking 2,000,000 migrant encounters so far in Fiscal Year 2022. This time last year, Customs and Border Patrol reported 1,277,177 encounters. The Biden Administration's decision to end the Remain in Mexico policy has only made matters worse. Border communities have no idea who is slipping in undetected. We must secure our southern border and keep American neighborhoods safe. Afghanistan One Year Later One year ago, Afghanistan fell to the Taliban. I served in Afghanistan for 5 years while I was in the Navy. The Biden Administration’s botched withdrawal is extremely devastating to me and all my fellow veterans. Pulling out of Afghanistan was the strategic blunder we expected it would be, and America is in a weaker position now than we were before the withdrawal. Our adversaries are eager to fill the void our absence leaves behind. Americans deserve answers. Click here to watch a clip of my interview with Spectrum News on the impact of this withdrawal. 2022 Congressional App Challenge Student registration is still open for the 2022 Congressional App Challenge. This is a great opportunity for students who are interested in STEM, coding, and computer science to gain hands-on programming experience. Eligible middle and high school students are encouraged to submit their application before the November 1st deadline. Click here to register.
