Dear friends,
Following the 7.2-magnitude earthquake that struck southern Haiti in August of last year, the world looked on as Haitians began working around the clock to respond to the crisis.
Support and solidarity poured in from around the globe during the weeks following the earthquake, which came on the heels of a presidential assassination and civil unrest.
But the heroes on the ground were left on their own for the rest of the year when the work to respond to the aftermath of the earthquake was not finished, long after the world had stopped looking. In the midst of tragedy and disaster, however, Zanmi Lasante (ZL), PIH’s sister organization in Haiti, never slowed their efforts to provide care to those who need it most, long after August 2021. |
