Group Behind Gascon Recall Knowingly Submitted Invalid Signatures

Let this be a lesson. RedState: Despite the vast sums of money raised and spent, the quality of the signatures submitted to LA County was “embarrassingly incompetent,” in the words of one former professional who viewed some of the materials provided to RedState. Even worse, a whistle-blower speaking to RedState on condition of anonymity provided information seeming to demonstrate that the woman widely acknowledged as controlling the campaign committee, Cassandra Vandenberg: knew for more than a month that the committee’s progress was woefully inadequate, knew that signatures from out-of-county people and non-voters were being counted by the committee as verified signatures and even instructed campaign workers to leave them on the petitions “because we need the numbers,” and instructed campaign workers, in front of multiple Deputy District Attorneys, to forge the signatures of circulators in the attestation portion of the petition forms that are signed under penalty of perjury (RedState). Jennifer Van Laar: Uncovering interesting things abt the parties/companies involved in Recall George Gascon petition. According to this, Let the Voters Decide, the sig gathering firm in Gascon recall, was running a Soros-backed voter “rights” bill in MI at the same time (Twitter).

CNN Employee: “No one is safe or secure right now”

Daily Wire: New CNN chairman and CEO Chris Licht did little to calm the nerves of highly partisan employees at the far-Left network this week after the cancelation of Brian Stelter’s show “Reliable Sources.” Licht started to evaluate the hyper-partisan so-called “talent” at the network shortly after he joined CNN as he aimed to dial down the extreme partisanship that has plagued the network in recent years. “I want to acknowledge that this is a time of significant change, and I know that many of you are unsettled,” Licht said, according to numerous people who attended Friday’s editorial meeting call. “There will be more changes, and you might not understand it or like it” (Daily Wire). Deadline: The Reliable Sources cancellation and Stelter’s exit, however, appear to have heightened anxieties. “No one is safe or secure right now,” a CNN staffer told Deadline on Friday (Deadline).

Brian Stelter’s Last Address on CNN’s Reliable Sources

Washington Examiner: Brian Stelter delivered an on-air farewell during the final episode of CNN’s Reliable Sources on Sunday, calling attention to what he called the “super strange situation” as the network canceled the long-running show while allowing it to produce one more segment afterward. At the end of the hourlong episode largely focused on examining how media itself is changing, Stelter stressed the importance of providing space for dialogue and the “full spectrum of debate.” He also called on viewers to hold CNN and other networks accountable for their coverage (Washington Examiner). Brian Stelter: That was a lot of fun. Thank you to every single viewer (Twitter). Daily Mail: All of the recent news to the changes at CNN ride alongside a ratings nosedive, with it plunging to less than half of its rival on Fox News and averaging just 787,000 this year. Stelter’s show struggled, however, in its ratings war with Fox News. Fox’s rival show, MediaBuzz, has averaged 1.5 million viewers this year, while Reliable Sources had 787,000. Reliable Sources is having its lowest-rated year since 2015 and has lost 26 percent of its total audience versus last year (Daily Mail). News Analyst Kevin Tober: That’s it! The last moment of @ReliableSources (Twitter).

Trans Athletes in Utah Allowed to Compete in Female Sports

Fox News: Transgender girls in Utah will be given the opportunity to participate in girls’ sports as the school year begins, after a judge on Friday reversed a ban pending legal challenges from parents. Instead of an outright ban, transgender girls will now be sent before a commission that will determine on a case-by-case basis if their participation compromises fairness. Utah’s Republican lawmakers created the commission in a law passed earlier this year as a fallback plan to be implemented in case of an injunction against the law. Under the law, the panel will be allowed to ask for and assess the child’s height and weight in making decisions about whether a transgender girl would have an unfair advantage (Fox News). Insider: Judge Keith Kelly in Salt Lake City granted a preliminary injunction, stating that the state’s athletic ban “discriminates against transgender girls.” “The ban singles out transgender girls and categorically bars them from competing on girls’ sports teams,” Kelly wrote in his ruling. “At the same time, other girls are free to compete. This is plainly unfavorable treatment” (Insider).

Poll Shows College Students Refuse to Dorm With Those of Opposite Political Beliefs

NBC: Almost half of second-year college students say they wouldn’t choose to be roommates with someone who supported a different presidential candidate than they did in 2020. A majority say they wouldn’t go on a date with someone who voted differently, and nearly two-thirds of them say they couldn’t see themselves marrying someone who backed a different presidential candidate two years ago. Those are the findings of a new online NBC News/Generation Lab poll of the class of 2025 as they begin their second year of college (NBC). Axios: 73% of Democrat voters polled from the class of 2025 said President Biden shouldn’t run again, while 27% believe he should run. 57% of Republican voters polled said they thought former President Trump should run again (Axios).

Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm Suggests Green Energy Push is World’s Greatest Peace Plan

Fox News: Biden Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm suggested in a recent interview that the United States’ green energy push will be the “greatest peace plan” in world history. “If we want to be energy secure and energy independent, that means we’ve got to produce our own energy,” Granholm said in an interview with VOA News on Friday  (Fox News). RNC Research: Biden Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm: “A move to clean energy will be the greatest peace plan the world has ever known” (Twitter).

Governor Kathy Hochul Signs Woke Bills Geared at Forcing Woke Language on People

Townhall: If you didn’t think the state of New York could get any more woke, think again. In the land of radical liberal policies, Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) is taking it a step further.  Earlier this week, Hochul signed a bill that would ban the word “salesman” and replace it with “salesperson” as well as replace words such as “his” and “her” with the woke pronoun “they” and “them.”  Senate Bill 536, or the Salesman Law, was proposed to change forms of “gendered language” so that they would be more “inclusive” among everyone… This is not the latest bill to be signed that bends over backwards to the woke narrative. Hochul approved a bill that would remove gender references from office-holders in local legislative bodies, changing “councilman” to words such as “council member.” It also changes the term “inmate” to “incarcerated person” (Townhall). Daily Mail: Prison reform advocates have said the term ‘inmate’ has a dehumanizing effect. ‘Language matters,’ said state Sen. Gustavo Rivera, a Bronx Democrat who sponsored the bill for the ‘inmate’ change. ‘This is another concrete step our state is taking to make our criminal justice system one that focuses on rehabilitation, rather than relying solely on punishment’ (Daily Mail).

Poll: Majority of Americans Think Inflation Act Will Make Things Worse or No Difference

NBC: The majority of registered voters don’t expect the Inflation Reduction Act to actually reduce inflation, according to a new poll. A Morning Consult/Politico survey reports that only 24% of those surveyed expect the $740 billion climate, tax and health care bill to reduce inflation while 34% said it will make inflation worse (NBC). RNC Research: 71% of Americans believe the Bidenflation Scam will either make things worse or not make a difference at all (Twitter).

Daughter of Putin’s Closest Ally Killed in Botched Assassination Attempt

Associated Press: The daughter of an influential Russian political theorist often referred to as “Putin’s brain” was killed in a car bombing on the outskirts of Moscow, authorities said Sunday. The Moscow branch of the Russian Investigative Committee said preliminary information indicated 29-year-old TV commentator Daria Dugina was killed by an explosive planted in the SUV she was driving Saturday night. There was no immediate claim of responsibility. But the bloodshed gave rise to suspicions that the intended target was her father, Alexander Dugin, a nationalist philosopher and writer. Dugin is a prominent proponent of the “Russian world” concept, a spiritual and political ideology that emphasizes traditional values, the restoration of Russia’s power and the unity of all ethnic Russians throughout the world. He is also a vehement supporter of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s move sending troops into Ukraine (Associated Press). BBC: Incidents like this will make officials in Moscow nervous, especially in the aftermath of a series of explosions and attacks in occupied Crimea and in Russian regions near the border with Ukraine. Kremlin propaganda consistently stresses how Vladimir Putin has brought security and stability in Russia following the turbulent 1990s, when car bombs and assassinations were commonplace. This car bomb in the Russian capital undermines that narrative. Despite not holding an official position in government, Alexander Dugin is believed to be a close ally of the Russian president and has even been branded “Putin’s Rasputin” (BBC).

Ways Lockdowns Have Changed Dating, Drinking Habits

Wall Street Journal: More people in the dating game are starting their search with alcohol off the table. Instead, those daters say they prefer to meet potential partners for coffee, a favorite hobby or a stroll. The pandemic upped daters’ desire for genuine connection, and drinking gets in the way of that connection, some say—in addition to being expensive and less healthy than other activities. More than a third of people on the dating app Hinge say they are more open to going on a sober date now versus a year ago. The preference is particularly pronounced among younger users, with 31% of 18- to 24-year-olds on the app saying they don’t consume drinks on an average date (Wall Street Journal). Daily Wire:77 When people returned to normal life, a lot of them noticed a potential problem with their drinking habits and took action to fix it. Another aspect of the shift is the state of the economy. Going to the beach or on a picnic is also a lot cheaper than buying drinks, and there is evidence that single people are trying to be more economical with their dating habits (Daily Wire).
