Hi John.

I know a lot of folks remain concerned about the cost of gas these days.

I worry about how rising prices affect people like my mom, who’s retired and now living on a fixed income after a long career in the Army and Postal Service. No one should have their budget squeezed even more.

That’s why I stood up to leaders in my own party and introduced a bill to temporarily suspend the federal gas tax. People need solutions, and this is one common sense step we can take to get Kansans relief right now.

I know we also need to do more to rein in inflation and lower gas prices.

That’s why I pushed the President to reopen closed oil refineries. We have unused capacity, and we can boost the supply of gas to lower prices without sacrificing our commitment to addressing climate change.

I’ve also voted to boost American energy and clean energy production. That includes requiring new offshore oil and gas lease sales. That’ll help boost American energy production in the short term to lower gas prices and reduce reliance on foreign countries.

The bill I voted for also accelerates U.S. manufacturing in solar panels, wind turbines, and batteries. That will also help us become more energy independent and create more jobs and manufacturing here in America – not China.

And I’ve pushed to crack down on price gouging by big oil and gas companies.
