Republican governors in Florida, Texas, and Georgia signed some of the most extreme voter suppression bills in recent history. And since SCOTUS overturned Roe, 18 states have moved to nearly ban or severely curtail access to all abortions. Some Republicans have even talked about instituting a nationwide abortion ban.

It’s clear the GOP isn’t going to stop their attacks on voting rights and abortion access. With federal legislation blocked by Republicans in the Senate, Democratic governors are the last line of defense in the fight to protect your rights.

Our democracy is only as strong as those who are willing to fight for it. Democratic governors across the country have worked to veto voter suppression bills, safeguard abortion rights, and expand access to affordable health care, but they can’t win these fights against far-right Republicans alone.
