[ [link removed] ]Winning America's Heartland
John,
We as Americans often take things for granted, including what we consider
basic necessities, such as water.
For most of us, whenever we want fresh water we don't even think twice
about it – we turn on the faucet and there it is fresh H[2]O. But that’s
not the case in many parts of the world. According to WWF, 1.1 billion
people worldwide lack access to water, 2.7 billion face scarcity, and 2
million children die each year as a result.
Imagine that for a second the next time you take a sip of water, and count
your blessings. So why am I bringing this up to you today? Well folks,
it’s because here in America we are facing our own water crisis and the
media is not talking about it enough.
You want to know who is paying attention to this? President Biden. This
past week President Biden signed the largest climate change bill in
history. A bill that Republicans are furious over since their lobbyists
and handlers who pay them off don't want us to think about our planet or
the future. Well, guess what? The future is here. The American Southwest
is drying up at record pace.
This is no longer a hypothetical – we are facing real challenges that we
must address. Ranchers in the West are facing severe drought conditions
and these conditions are driving up the cost of cattle, thus bankrupting
small and family-owned ranches and farms alike.
You wanna know who is benefitting? The corporate agriculture and meat
packing industries. They are buying up land at pennies on the dollar from
distressed fellow Americans. These are not stories we hear on the news,
but these are the people President Biden and the Democrats are fighting
for. Ironic as it is, these same folks vote red more often than not. Or at
least they did, but we are going to change that.
We at No Dem Left Behind are going to be documenting all of this and
sharing it with you, and then we are going to share it with the folks that
live in New Mexico and Arizona, Texas and Nevada, Nebraska, and every
other agriculture-dependent state in this country. We as Democrats are
fighting and pushing for legislation that will better the lives of all
Americans, not just the ones that vote for us.
Once upon a time, but not too long ago, in 1848, gold was discovered and
the California gold rush was declared. Hundreds of thousands of people
risked it all and headed to the west coast in search for riches. Now the
riches are there – if counted as a country, California would be the
world's 5th largest economy – but the water is not. We have the resources
to invest and we are finally doing it. None of this would’ve happened if
we had a Republican as President. Trump or any one of those other frauds,
they don't care about America.
These are the challenges we face, and our party is addressing them. We
need to get the word out. We need to defend our policies and fight back
against the right-wing media. We need to keep the progress going, and to
do that, we must win in November. So if you’ve got the means, we’d
appreciate your help.
