Dear John,
Today we celebrate National Seniors Citizens Day — and highlight the contributions you and millions of other older Americans continue to make to our great nation.
As President of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, I want to thank you personally for everything you do to help lead the fight in Washington, DC against proposed cuts to your earned benefits!
The National Committee’s supporters are made up of more than one million older Americans from across the country from all economic and political backgrounds. They understand that, as seniors we are keepers of a very important promise to our children, our grandchildren and to all future retired Americans — the promise to help protect them from devastating poverty as they grow old …
The promise of Social Security and Medicare.
America’s more than 49 million seniors have paid (and about 176 million workers are currently paying) their hard-earned money into Social Security and Medicare. As our past victories have shown, to preserve the benefits we’ve paid into and earned during our lifetime of work we must actively fight to protect our earned benefits.
Our opponents will not give up until they succeed in chipping away at America’s vital social safety net. That’s why it’s so important seniors stay active, engaged and informed in the fight to protect and strengthen Social Security and Medicare.
Thank again for your commitment to our critical fight to protect the promise of Social Security and Medicare for American retirees and workers. I’m counting on you to stay with us in the weeks ahead as threats continue to mount against your earned benefits!
Sincerely,
|
