John,

I’ve served in the Colorado legislature for 10 years, and now I’m running for Congress. Let me tell you why.

I was born and raised in Colorado. I came from a working-class family that faced a LOT of adversity. And I paid my own way by working more jobs than I count: I started cleaning houses when I was just 12 years old, worked behind the counter at a bagel shop, pushed carts at a grocery store, and waited tables at restaurant after restaurant.

But in many ways, I was lucky. I had access to great public schools and teachers that believed in me. Because of the investments this community made in me, I was given a chance to earn a good life. I became the first in my family to graduate from both high school and college.

I’m running for Congress because there is far too much at stake in this election. The same opportunities I had growing up have been put further and further out of reach for far too many Coloradans.

I’m traveling across Colorado to talk to voters, and to make sure they know that I’ll fight for them in Congress. But doing that takes resources, John, and we have a huge fundraising deadline coming up. Can you split between my team and Voter Protection Project to help my team and me spread the word about my campaign across Colorado?

My campaign for Congress is different. When I talk about bringing back the opportunities that I had to Colorado, I want you to know that’s not just talk.

I have a record for getting things done in the State Legislature. I’ve fought to expand early childhood education and make kindergarten free, to lower the cost of health insurance and prescription drugs to help families struggling with the opioid epidemic, and to guarantee a woman’s right to choose.

But there’s a lot of work to be done. Work that I’m prepared to do in Congress to make life better for Coloradans, and folks like you and me nationwide.

I’m hoping I can count you in on this fight. If you can split just $5, $15, or $25 between my team and Voter Protection Project today, I would be so grateful →

The Voter Protection Project is on an important mission: To end partisan gerrymandering and voter suppression by electing candidates at the state and federal levels that are forceful advocates for voting rights. Our enfranchisement agenda includes working to ensure that every state has automatic voter registration and online voter registration, convenient early voting, and independent redistricting commissions to ensure politicians are not able to draw their own maps.
