This past week, President Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) into law — an important move that will lower prices and put hard-earned dollars back in Americans’ pockets.
But we cannot ignore that the bill also misses a big opportunity to solve the problem of the Medicaid coverage gap. Millions of Americans will still be stuck without coverage.
Our ballot measure campaigns are the last line of defense for those stuck without coverage. Will you add your name to show that you support our efforts at the state-level to win Medicaid expansions, team?
Folks in this gap live in 1 of 12 states that never expanded Medicaid. They make too much income to qualify for Medicaid or health care subsidies…and often get left in the middle, sometimes without any affordable health care option at all. This is not viable going forward: everyone deserves equal access to affordable health care.
No one should have to choose between paying for a week of groceries and their family’s health!
Fairness Project has been working to close this gap state by state with local organizations and activists, passing Medicaid expansion via ballot measure when politicians fail to act. The IRA is more proof that citizen-powered measures can do what 100 senators just can’t.
We’re working on powering more Medicaid expansion measures across the country to close the gap and bring coverage to thousands, but we need your backing to do that. Will you sign on to show your support for our work to expand Medicaid for everyone, and everywhere, team?
Thanks for your support.
