Happy weekend, friends!

A PERSONAL NOTE

 

I've been up to my elbows in jam this week. I've made strawberry,
blueberry, peach, and jalapeno peach. (All of the specific recipes can
be found in my book, The Prepper's Canning Guide.)

My jam was super-thrifty. I used my no-pectin method and preserved fruit
I'd picked up at the end of the day at the farmer's market and off the
last-day-of-sale aisle in the grocery store. Here's how to make jam

The jalapenos were courtesy of my patio garden.

We've had a lot of rain here, and between that, burning sun. It's pretty
much killed off my once-thriving garden and I had to pull some dead
plants yesterday. I had high hopes this year since I got everything in
early, and I did manage to get some veggies here and there. The thing
that did best in my containers was jalapeno peppers followed by herbs,
which are now hanging to dry.

With rain comes rainbows, like the one I grabbed a photo of
recently. I think that's a
good thing to remember for all of us as the situation around us feels
like it's deteriorating.

Look for the rainbows.
