On Friday 17th June, children and staff from the Middleton Primary school joined efforts with the local Cllrs, REACT team and other city council staff to stand up for our children's safety.
Children created wonderful art work displayed on the outside school wall for all parents to see, Cllrs talked to parents, Community Protection officers talked to everyone about parking and blocking the access - and they all together promoted safer school streets.
The main message was about encouraging more parents to ditch the car, if they live within a reasonable distance from school.
Cllrs Khan said “Working together, we can achieve anything. It was lovely seeing all the amazing posters, by the children. Illegal Parking outside Middleton Primary or Fernwood Primary will not be tolerated. Thanks to REACT Nottingham Officers, who have been on patrol this week. Educating drivers about irresponsible parking, and engine idling. Please bear in mind the safety and health of our children is paramount. Loved seeing all these amazing posters, by the children regarding school road safety”.
We were delighted to attend the official opening of the newly upgraded Seaford Avenue Park, by local resident Eva Brown.
Eva has lived in Wollaton for 50 years and has fostered over 100 children, bringing most of them to the park over the years.
It was an absolute pleasure seeing the children excited with their new playground. This is such beautiful space in our ward and we look forward to seeing many more families come and enjoy it, in the years to come.

Wollaton West volunteers and community champions have joined Neighbourhood Operations Management, Nottingham City Homes, Community Protection, Ward Councillors and Resident Development Officers to tackle the litter issues in their area.
They met on 19th May by the corner of Arleston Drive and Fernwood Crescent, walking the streets near by and collecting litter; they were showing people that collecting small bags of litter in their community could make a big difference.
