In the absence of any federal help to secure the southern border,
Arizona is taking matters into its own hands under Gov. Doug Ducey. With
his signature of a recent executive order, the state has begun emergency
construction to fill a 1,000-foot-long gap in the border wall near the
Yuma sector.Â
Florida
won't be 'woke dumpster fire': DeSantis announces teacher recruitment
plan
Gov. Ron DeSantis this week proposed three new initiatives to get more
(non-woke) teachers in Florida schools, including by offering incentives
for veterans who have a bachelor's degree to become educators. Gov.
Desantis: "We are not going to let this state descend into some type of
woke dumpster fire. We're going to be following common sense. We're
going to be following facts, and that's really important."
Youngkin criticizes proposed removal of Washington in Virginia schools
Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin slammed a proposal from the state
Department of Education to remove references to George Washington as the
"father of our country" in state schools. Gov. Youngkin: "...Part
of the history we're going to tell is that our Founding Fathers,
including George Washington and James Madison, and let's not forget
about Thomas Jefferson and Patrick Henry and the others, played an
extraordinary role in the founding of our nation."
NORTH DAKOTA:
N.D. governor pushes bill to guarantee Pledge of Allegiance at schools,
gov't meetings
North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum said this week that he is pushing the
state legislature to pass a bill guaranteeing the opportunity to recite
the pledge of allegiance in public schools and at government meetings.
Gov. Burgum: "...Students in every public school in North Dakota,
along with elected governing bodies and those who attend their meetings,
should have the opportunity to recite the Pledge of Allegiance and
express support for the American ideals upon which our country was
founded."
