Trump might have finally broken one too many laws.

Earlier this month, the FBI executed a search warrant of Mar-a-Lago, seizing 11 sets of classified documents as part of a federal investigation into Trump's illegal removal of said documents from the White House.

As part of its investigation, the Department of Justice cited three criminal statutes that Trump may have violated, including obstruction of justice, the Presidential Records Act and the Espionage Act, which covers “gathering, transmitting or losing defense information.” The Justice Department can and must act swiftly to hold Trump accountable.

In their typical corrupt fashion, Republicans are calling for repealing the Espionage Act rather than have Trump face responsibility for his actions. The GOP would rather change laws than admit wrongdoing. While his own party looks the other way while he commits crimes, the DOJ must stand up to Trump and enforce the rule of law.

It's time for the DOJ to hold Trump accountable and charge him. Holding classified documents is against the law, and no one is above the law. Not even former presidents.
