It's nearly that time of year again – our kids and grandkids are heading back to school, marking the end of what has turned out to be an eventful summer for folks across the country.
As the son of two now-retired public school teachers and the father of two kids who attend public school, I know all about the mixed emotions this time of year holds for many of us: excitement, anxiety, pride, and more.
It seems that every year, our kids and their schools are facing new challenges – from the COVID-19 pandemic to gun violence, attacks on fundamental curriculum, and now monkeypox outbreaks. I understand the concerns folks have – and, as a dad and as your representative, I’m committed to working every day to fight for the safety of our students and teachers.
