* Get out into nature this weekend and take *Trailhead Direct service [ [link removed] ] *to Mt. Si, Little Si and Mt. Tenriffe;
* Temporary Bus Stop Relocation [ [link removed] ] for Trailhead Direct Mt. Si; Spring St & 4th Ave (EB) #1270, just east of 4th Ave, is temporarily relocated to Spring St just east of 5th Ave from June 1 to August 30;

* *West Seattle Water Taxi and #773 and #775* shuttles are operating on the summer schedule [ [link removed] ], offering midday crossings 7 days a week, plus late options Fridays and Saturdays;

Weigh in on Aurora Avenue North safety improvements

The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) is planning safety improvements to Aurora Avenue North [ [link removed] ] (State Route 99), and is inviting the public to participate in an online survey  [ [link removed] ]to share input on potential safety improvements. 

*The Aurora Avenue North Project will:*


* Create a design for the Aurora Avenue North corridor that enhances safety, mobility, and accessibility for all travelers.
* Identify potential transit service improvements and connections with nearby light rail stations, as well as safety and security improvements at transit stops.
* Address the needs of residents, businesses, and other stakeholders in a unified vision for the corridor through an equitable and robust engagement process.
* Consider collision history and safety challenges along the corridor, addressing the areas with the most serious collisions or collisions involving vulnerable road users.
* Develop a strategy to construct corridor improvements as resources become available.

The survey will *remain open through September 30, 2022*. Plan ahead for upcoming 1 Line maintenance

From Friday, August 19 to Thursday, September 1, the 1 Line train frequencies will be reduced to 20 minutes between Angle Lake and Stadium stations. The work requires the closure of one track at Columbia City Station, forcing all trains to use a single track between Mount Baker and Othello stations. 

Trains will run approximately every 10 minutes between Northgate and Stadium stations from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. During these hours every other train heading south from Northgate will turn back at Stadium Station. The trains exterior signs will say if they are headed to SeaTac/Angle Lake or Stadium.

From 5 - 6 a.m. and from 10 p.m. - 1 a.m. trains will run every 20 minutes systemwide. No southbound trains will turn back at Stadium Station.

Here’s information you can use to stay safe as you travel on Metro during this last blast of summer heat:


* All Metro coaches have air conditioning, which helps provide a refuge from the heat for much of the day while you travel.
* Hot weather means that buses may be behind schedule. Be sure to pack a water bottle, stay out of the direct sun as best as you can, and be prepared for possible delays.
* Heat can impact roads and bridges and create potential delays. Using Metro Transit Alerts [ [link removed] ], you can receive information about disruptions by email or text message.
* Our real-time updates can let you know when a bus trip is operating, when it is due to depart, or if it was canceled due to weather or an operator shortage:

Congrats to Metro planner Penny Lara for winning national equity award!

Penny Lara recently won a national transportation award for diversity, equity and inclusion. Lara received the award from the Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT), which recognizes and honors outstanding achievements that improve transportation options.

Lara has dedicated more than 25 years to working with and advocating for diverse and immigrant populations on issues such as health, social justice and access to transportation. Every day, she advances and shapes Metro’s services by applying an equity lens to complex challenges.
