“To preserve women’s reproductive rights, end gerrymandering”

“Given that abortion laws will now be set by state lawmakers, gerrymandering will have a direct impact on which party controls state legislatures and the direction for abortion laws in the future.”

PITCH IN TO HELP THE NDRC DEFEND OUR DEMOCRACY! > [link removed]

John,

If there’s one thing we learned from the recent election in Kansas, it’s that the GOP’s extreme abortion bans don’t represent the will of the voters.

But thanks to years of manipulating the maps, the most extreme voices in the room have been able to seize control of the GOP. When far-right candidates no longer have to worry about credible challengers in a general election, it creates an incentive to become as extreme as possible in order to win their Republican primary.

Think about all the issues that an overwhelming majority of voters agree on: The right to make our own reproductive choices and our own choices about who to marry, the right to live free from the fear of constant gun violence, and more. Progress on each of these issues has been stymied thanks to far-right politicians in gerrymandered districts who don’t represent a majority of voters.

That’s why it’s critical that we keep up our work to defend voting rights and end GOP gerrymandering once and for all. Because when we have fair maps and fair elections, the will of the majority will finally be heard — and we’ll be able to make progress on the issues that matter most.

We’ve made a lot of progress on this front since the NDRC launched in 2017, but with one of the most important midterm elections in our lifetimes coming up this November, we’ve still got work to do. And we’re counting on support from people like you to help us do it.

John, can we count on you to pitch in to the NDRC today to help us keep up our work to end gerrymandering, protect voting rights, and defend our democracy from far-right politicians who don’t represent the American people?
