Dear Texan,

I hope everyone is enjoying the rain that's blessed many parts of TX-31 today - we needed it! I wanted to take a moment to update you on this week's work across the district.

ON THE DOCKET:

  • The Carter A-Lister Award
  • CesiumAstro Site Tour
  • Visiting Army Futures Command

THE BRIEF:

  • Monday was the one-year anniversary of Biden’s disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal which took the lives of 13 service members, left hundreds of Americans and allies abandoned, and left the Taliban with access to over $7 billion of U.S. military equipment.
  • From June 2022 to July 2022, fentanyl seizures increased over 200%, bringing the total to over 10,000 pounds of poisonous fentanyl seized this fiscal year.
  • As of this month, the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) has fallen to the lowest level since 1985 – risking our national security and energy security.

THE CARTER A-LISTER AWARD

I was honored to present the Carter A-Lister Award to Jolene Volek on the first day of school! As a teacher at Granger ISD and a volunteer firefighter, Jolene consistently goes the extra mile for her community. After the tornadoes in March, Jolene received reports of students stuck under debris and was able to successfully save them. Jolene is a blessing to her students and community.

Do you know an outstanding student or educator in TX-31? As your representative, I love getting the chance to recognize exceptional teachers and students for their service, achievements, and involvement in TX-31. Congressman Carter visits CesiumAstro for a tour of their new facility.

CESIUMASTRO SITE TOUR

This week, I visited CesiumAstro to see their new production innovation facility and get an update on their collaborations with the Department of Defense. Making sure our service members have the most advanced technology to protect our nation and stay safe while doing so is one of my top priorities as a member of the Defense Appropriations Committee.

Representative Carter tours Army Futures Command and receives updates on current projects.

VISITING ARMY FUTURES COMMAND

In 2018, I worked alongside other elected officials to bring Army Futures Command to Texas. This is a place where the brightest minds come together to create cutting-edge technology for our service members. Advanced technology has been known to save troops' lives, keep them safer on the battlefield and make our fighting force more lethal.  I am excited to see how they will continue to innovate with private companies to expand our military’s capabilities.

As always, thank you for taking the time to stay updated on what's happening in Texas' 31st congressional district. Follow my Facebook and Twitter accounts for more updates.

It is an honor and privilege to represent you and Texas in the United States House.
Sincerely,
John R. Carter
