Abortion Banned in NC at 20 Weeks |
|
On Wednesday, a federal judge lifted a block on North Carolina's 20-week abortion ban. Abortion has technically always been banned at 20 weeks in NC but it has not always been enforced.
From Indy Week's daily newsletter "While virtually no elective abortions occur after 20 weeks of pregnancy, patients who are facing dire health outcomes for themselves or their babies will now be forced to travel out of state to receive the care they need, or become severely ill, or die, as the other options."
This ban will limit crucial care that patients may need quickly- forcing patients to go out of state for emergencies can be deadly. For now, abortion is still safe and legal in NC until 20 weeks. We must organize our friends, family, colleagues, neighbors and anyone else we may be in community with to protect the future of abortion access and reproductive healthcare in our state. |

Town Hall Series Returns!
Earlier this year we organized a series of six town halls talking about everything from education to healthcare and we're bringing the series back as we gear up for the November election. Join us for five more Tuesdays at 6PM- these town halls will go a little longer to accommodate more audience questions, so be sure to ask questions!

We are partnering with All on the Line NC and Indivisible Guilford County to bring you two events on August 23 and August 25. On August 23, we'll present a forum on judicial races and the effect they have on our lives, rights and freedoms. There will be closed captioning as well as Spanish translation! On August 25, one of our amazing supporters in Greensboro will host people at their home to watch the movie Selma. |

We Need Your Help To Get Out The Vote (GOTV)!
The November election is fast approaching and we need your help to reach thousands of voters across our state. As many of y'all know, the Moore v. Harper case, which originated from NC thanks to the NC Speak of the House Tim Moore, will be heard in front of the Supreme Court of the United States in November. If the SCOTUS votes in favor of the independent legislature theory, this could be the last time our votes count, on at least the federal level.
This is not a drill.
We must organize and show up in mass numbers in November to save the future of democracy in our state. The stakes really could not be higher. Sitting back and not doing something about this moment, is not an option. Learn how to help us through the election and afterwards, because our work will not end on November 8. |
