‌ ‌ WEEKLY UPDATE August 19th, 2022 Dear Kansas friends, Thank you for your interest in receiving my newsletter. Please feel free to share this with your friends and family. Finding Solutions to the Fentanyl Crisis Fentanyl kills one person in America every 8.57 minutes. I hosted a roundtable in Topeka to find out what Congress can do to help our law enforcement and local officials fight this epidemic that continues to crush families and communities across Kansas. Watch HERE Federal Spending is Out of Control President Biden has spent $3.8 trillion since entering the Oval Office. Democrats' reckless federal spending has led to the highest inflation rate in 40 years and forced our economy into a recession. Working the Counter at Casey's I had a fantastic time talking with employees and customers at Casey's in Tonganoxie this week. Convenience stores like Casey's are vital to our economy and to the daily lives of Kansans. Thanks for having me! Democrats Vote to Raise Taxes and Worsen Inflation Last week, House Democrats pushed through their reckless $700+ BILLION spending package that will: Do NOTHING to lower inflation Raise taxes on families and businesses Hire 87k new IRS agents Spend over $350B on Green New Deal policies This is a bad deal for Kansas taxpayers. The Democrats' $700+ billion "Inflation Reduction Act" will not help bring down the historic inflation that's crushing family budgets. Instead, the bill spends hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars to fund Green New Deal initiatives. Read more HERE Expanding Benefits for Veterans I was proud to support the Honoring Our PACT Act that was signed into law by President Biden last week. This crucial legislation will provide 3.5 million toxic-exposed veterans with the benefits and care they deserve. Read more HERE It Has Been One Year Since Biden's Afghanistan Disaster Monday was the one-year anniversary of President Biden's botched withdrawal from Afghanistan. The lack of planning from the Biden Administration resulted in billions of dollars of military equipment left to the Taliban, Americans and Afghan allies stranded, and 13 U.S. servicemembers tragically killed while fighting for freedom. We will never forget their service and sacrifice to our nation. Visiting Big Springs Quarry Great stopping by Mid-States Materials in Lecompton this week. I had the opportunity to tour their facility and learn how they produce crushed and processed aggregate. Thanks for having me! Join Me Next Week in Yates Center! Next Tuesday, I will be hosting Lagers with Legislators. Stop by, have a drink, and talk about the issues that are important to you and your family. My staff will also be present to assist with any issues you may be having with the federal government. I hope to see you there! Click HERE to sign up. Next Week's Staff Mobile Office Hours Next week, my staff will continue hosting mobile office hours across the district. Please stop by if you need any help navigating the federal government.
