And it's not just any Super PAC- earlier this year they spent tens of thousands of dollars running negative mailers against Democratic Congresswoman Lucy McBath, one of the founders of Mothers of the Movement!
For those familiar with Jamie's opponent, this is probably a surprising development. Earlier this year, he penned an op-ed where he listed his top priority as the "need to get dark money out of politics." I went to count how many times he denounced dark money or said he would never accept PAC donations on Twitter- I lost track somewhere around 25.
Here's the deal. Jamie's opponent is scared of the grassroots momentum behind our campaign. He's taking money from a group that campaigns against Democrats because he thinks nobody will notice he went back on his word.
He is trying to buy this election with dark money with just days to spare and we can't let that happen.
Jamie is out on the campaign trail, taking her message directly to voters. She's campaigning the right way. But we need to kick our fundraising into overdrive if we are going to compete with an opponent who plans to blanket the airwaves with an unlimited supply of dark money.
I hate to ask again, because I know how helpful you've been thus far. But the stakes just changed.
