The Hawaii Republican Party joins with every citizen of Hawaii to celebrate the Aloha State’s unique status as America’s only Polynesian state, its 50th state, and the state known for bringing aloha to the world. Our monarchy’s royal families were the first such dignitaries to travel the world, bringing the spirit of aloha to the courts of the great nations of the day. Duke Kahanamoku, Olympic champion waterman, brought surfing and the spirit of aloha to the world.

Our Hawaii Republican Party founder, Prince Kuhio, was the first person of Hawaiian royalty to serve in the United States Congress. He submitted the first Hawaii Statehood bill to Congress in 1921. And our Hiram Fong, Hawaii’s first Senator, was the first Asian elected to the United States Congress.

The Hawaii Republican Party has remained strong in allegiance to our country and true to the spirit of aloha. We are grateful to play a special, vigilant role as home to the US Indo-Pacific command. Our state GOP legislators and candidates are dedicated to bringing Republican principles and values into State leadership. Faith, family, freedom, liberty under law, and protection of the peoples’ right to earn a living, to keep and bear arms, and to participate in and watch closely over fair elections.

Since August 21, 1959, when President Dwight Eisenhower signed the proclamation that made Hawaii statehood official, the Aloha state has been proud and equal members of this great United States. The Republican principle of rule, as our Party’s founder Abraham Lincoln put it, “of the people, by the people, and for the people” is required of every state, and guaranteed to every state.
Have a wonderful Statehood Day, and thank you for making Hawaii’s Republicans an example of aloha and goodwill as we continue to contend for a balanced, two-party system of government in Hawaii Nei.
