Public Notice: Meeting re: Proposed Keyhole State Project, August 31, 2022

Black Hills Bentonite, LLC of Casper, Wyoming has applied for a mining permit from the Land Quality Division of the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).  The proposed mining permit known as the Keyhole State Project will mine bentonite and is located in: Section 16, Township 50 North, Range 66 West, Crook County, Wyoming. The Keyhole State Project is approximately two (2) miles to the Southeast of the town of Pine Haven, Wyoming, and approximately fifteen (15) miles to the Northwest of the town of Upton, Wyoming.  The proposed operation is scheduled to begin October, 2022 and is estimated to continue until 2042.

In reference to the proposed Keyhole State Project mining permit, the Land Quality Division (LQD) has scheduled a listening session for members of the public to attend. The intent of this listening session is for the public to provide comments and/or concerns related to the proposed Keyhole State Project mine permit to DEQ staff. Representatives from the DEQ will be in attendance to listen to comments and/or concerns that the public may have in relation to this proposed project.  

The listening session will take place on August 31, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00. P.M at the Pine Haven Community Center located at 24 Waters Drive, Pine Haven, WY. All members of the public are welcome to attend.
