Dear Friend,

As natural disasters like wildfires, hurricanes, floods, and draughts continue to escalate year over year, including Hurricane Ida, which the Washington Post recently called "the poster child for a climate change-driven disaster", the health and safety of our communities is at risk and people are suffering ? especially Black and Indigenous communities, communities of color, and low-wealth communities who are already being disproportionately harmed and displaced.

However bleak the future may seem, I'm here to tell you ? there is hope.

The most important climate legislation in a generation is being debated as you read this, Friend.

Up for consideration in both the U.S. House and Senate is a bill that would put serious resources into clean energy. Funding for clean water. Clean air. Public lands. Environmental justice. There's a shot ? a real shot ? at passage.

Our movement is fighting every day for our Earth, and we are making real progress. The pro-environment majority in Congress and pro-climate leaders in the Biden-Harris administration have a chance to enact impactful legislation for a clean energy economy, investments in environmental justice, and thousands of good-paying, union jobs.

But this fight won't be over in a year, or even 5 years. At LCV, we're planning for the long-haul which is why we're bringing together our entire movement for an informative, inspiring, one-of-a-kind event later this month ? LCV's Climate Action Watch Party.

What is LCV's Climate Action Watch Party you might be asking? On Wednesday, September 22, 2021 [link removed] we are bringing our community of thousands of members together to hear from climate champions from across the movement and get plugged into our plan for climate action.

Ticket sales will go directly to our field campaigns, but also grant you entrance to one of our biggest events of the year, where you can hear from Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, Representative Lisa Blunt Rochester, and more to be announced!

Our movement is fighting every day to protect our planet and everyone who inhabits it, and we are making real progress. There's a real chance to enact impactful legislation for a clean energy economy, investments in environmental justice, and thousands of good-paying, unionized jobs.

If everyone reading this joins, we will be able to ensure our organizers have what they need to reach every voter and community leader where it matters most. Your continued support helps keep organizers knocking on doors and ads airing across channels, and ultimately pass the reconciliation bill. There is not a moment to waste.

Thank you for helping us keep up the pressure ? progress is only possible when we work together.

Onward,
Gene Karpisnki
LCV President
