Hello John,
The news articles about book bans and needs for teachers keeping piling up, but we have an opportunity right now ensure a quality education for students by providing testimony at the State Board of Education. Through the power of your testimony, you can show compelling support for an education that is representative of all Texas students. Don't know how to testify? TFN is hosting a virtual training.
RSVP to attend the training
Mark your calendars for Tuesday, August 24 at 6:30pm - 7:30pm CT, for our next Teach the Truth Action Session Part 3: Advocating against educational censorship at the State Board of Education.
During this session, organizers will talk through how to highlight your personal story to create an impactful testimony.
As discussions regarding social studies curriculum ramp up at the State Board of Education, we must continue to prioritize the need for students to learn and talk about the history and cultures of Indigenous communities, people of color, LGBTQIA+ folks, and other marginalized communities. In the face of a growing movement to censor classroom discussions and history, it is essential that our stories, all our stories, are told.
Together, we will ensure that all Texas students receive an education that is accurate, honest and representative.
