On Wednesday, we held our very first Town Hall in Wildomar, CA. The turnout was incredible, and I want to give a huge thank you to everyone who attended -- including those who joined us online!

This campaign is about hearing from (and speaking to) voters in this community about the issue we face. I got the chance to hear from so many. One attendee -- Hydee -- asked me an important question I receive often, so I wanted to elaborate on my response with you today:

“How exactly will you tackle the problem we have with corruption and politics?”

1. I will support a constitutional amendment to reverse Citizens United. Due to the Citizens United v. FEC ruling, big corporations have more influence than ever. They are seen as people under the law and, therefore, able to spend unlimited amounts in elections as a form of protected speech. I think it’s dead wrong and has broken our politics. That’s also why I’m proud to be endorsed by End Citizens United.

2. I believe that all lawmakers should reject corporate PAC money. I plan to honor that pledge because we’ve seen how dangerous it is when deep-pocketed interests speak louder than the people.

3. I will vote to ban Members of Congress from trading stock while serving in Congress. This is a no-brainer in my view. If you’re making the rules, you can’t be allowed to write them in a way that benefits your own wallet.

This question is important here in CA-41. At one point, my opponent Ken Calvert was literally listed as one of “The Most Corrupt Members Of Congress” by Business Insider. Long before Trump’s run-in with the FBI, it was Calvert who was being investigated for buying land and selling it at an 80% markup after his earmarks increased its value.
