In just 13 days, many Americans — young and old — will once again be burdened with interest-driven payments on their federal student loans. When the student loan payment pause is lifted on September 1st, many borrowers will have to resume their payments.

And borrowers of all ages are often choosing between putting food on the table and making a payment on student loan interest.

This shouldn't be the norm.

So far, the Biden administration has made tremendous progress on the student loan debt crisis, just recently forgiving $3.9 billion for borrowers defrauded by for-profit colleges. This is big. But there is a lot more to be done in order to resolve this $1.7 trillion dollar plus crisis.

This issue is particularly important for Robert, who before being elected as Mayor, spent his career as an educator, teaching thousands of students and advocating for free community college across Long Beach. Robert understands how difficult it is to have access to quality education, and no American should have their opportunity limited due to student debt.

With just 13 days to go before the end of the student loan payment pause, it is more important than ever that we urge the Biden administration to do what's right and cancel student debt.
