Friend —
Right now, Democrats in Washington DC are patting themselves on the
back for passing the Biden administration's "Inflation Reduction Act."
The bill, a product of months of concessions to members of
their own party, was praised by President Biden as
"the biggest step forward on Climate ever," but when you look beyond
the media hype you see one of the bill's largest winners: Big
Oil.
At the bill's signing just two days ago, President Biden stated
"With this law, the American people won, and the special interests
lost." This is all too typical of the gaslighting rhetoric of this
administration and its allies in the House and Senate. How can they
claim that when this act:
- Opens up thousands of square miles in the Gulf of Mexico and
Alaska to new oil drilling
- Requires millions of acres of federal land and water to be offered
up for new oil and gas leasing
- Fast-tracks new oil pipelines and processing plants, ignoring
environmental regulations
- Promotes bogus climate solutions from the oil and gas industry
like carbon capture and storage
The Green Party is not afraid to stand up for the truth. Unlike the
Democrats, we have no big donors in the fossil fuel industry to buy
off our commitment to people and planet. We are the
only national party committed to implementing a
science-backed, Eco-Socialist Green New Deal. We can make these
commitments because we're not bound to elite funders. We rely
on contributions from people just like you! Please
give today so we can keep organizing, campaigning, and exposing
cowardice and corruption!

One of our Eco-Action Committee co-chairs has
published a powerful op-ed on the details of the Inflation Reduction
Act's whitewashing and what steps toward a desperately needed Green
New Deal could look like. Help us break through the media
blackout and share it with your organizing partners and in community
spaces.
People need to know the truth. The Inflation Reduction Act will
expand the use of fossil fuel at a time when we should be banning new
fossil fuel infrastructure and massively investing in a Just
Transition to 100% renewable, public power. Above all, the president
needs to declare a climate emergency and exhaust all executive powers
available to advance climate action.
The clock is ticking — we are on track to use up the planet's
remaining "carbon budget" in seven years. Please
contribute to support Green candidates and climate justice
today.

P.S. While some "progressive" organizations rely
on foundations created by the ultra-wealthy, our "foundation" rests on
Monthly
Sustainers generously giving $10, $20, or whatever they
can afford. Their support is invaluable, and we are immensely
grateful!
