Last week, Congress made history by passing the Inflation Reduction Act. This legislation represents the largest investment in climate policy in our nation’s history while also allowing Medicare to begin negotiating the prices of certain medications and pushing corporations to pay their fair share of taxes.
This victory is due in large part to Democratic Senators like Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire, who won her race in 2016 by just 1,017 votes. Her voice is part of our one-vote advantage in the Senate that makes passing legislation like this possible. It’s proof that our voices and our votes, whether as citizens or as representatives, are vital to making progress and improving the lives of Americans.
