Travel update in Nottingham 19 August - 26 August

🚧 Major Disruption 🚧

Saturday 23 July - Sunday 28 August: Western Boulevard from Radford Road over the Bridge towards Wilkinson Street
Road closure in a south westerly direction and lane closure in a north east direction for major works to the structure of the bridge deck. Works progressing on programme, with the following restrictions in place:

  • One lane remaining open northbound over the bridge heading towards the City Hospital
  • Southbound lanes closed towards Beechdale and traffic diverted away from the area
  • The main junction into Western Boulevard (Ring Road) coming down from St Leodegarius’s Church closed to traffic

Diversion 1: Nottingham Road – North Gate – Radford Road – Wilkinson Street, & vice versa

🚨Lady Bay Bridge closure🚨

Due to a road traffic collision, Lady Bay Bridge is only open in one direction from Meadow Lane to Radcliffe Road so that the bridge can be repaired.

Off-peak lane closure for loading and deliveries to development works

Monday 11 July - Monday 5 September: University Boulevard/Woodside Road  
Lane closure from adjacent sports ground for 58m onto Woodside Road for Cadent Gas works 

Wednesday 20 July - Friday 16 September: Hilcot Drive between Shepton Crescent & Harwill Crescent
Lane closure for installation of parking bays

Thursday 21 July - tbc: Woodborough Road junction with Querneby Road
Four way temporary works for emergency Western Power Distribution works 

Monday 25 July - Friday 2 September: Junction of A609 Ilkeston Road / Radford Boulevard
Four way temporary signals with additional pedestrian crossing for full refurbishment of traffic signalised junction

Monday 25 July - Friday 9 September: Junction of A609 Wollaton Road / Russell Drive
Three way temporary signals with additional pedestrian crossing for full refurbishment of traffic signalised junction

Monday 15 August - Sunday 21 August: 106 Lenton Boulevard
Lane closure between Arthur Avenue and Willoughby Avenue for Western Power Distribution works

Saturday 20 August - Sunday 21 August: Basford Road (outside No.14 and junction of Church Street for road crossing, then outside White Swan)
Four way signals for installation of new fibre in the footway (Saturday 08.00-18.00 and Sunday 09.00-18.00)

Left hand lane closure for Western Power Distribution works

Saturday 20 August - Sunday 21 August: Cinderhill Road - opposite No.15 and The Headstocks Pub
Two way signals for City Fibre works 

Saturday 20 August - Sunday 21 August: Maid Marian Way outside Premier Inn/Park Row 
Lane closures for duct laying works

Saturday 20 August - Monday 22 August: Directly at junction with Beechdale Road, Harvey Road  
Four way signals for Severn Trent Water works

Sunday 21 August 12pm-8pm: Road closures along the Victoria Embankment and the Meadows area
Road closures and diversions for Nottingham Carnival. The diversion route will be along Queens Drive, Waterway Street, Sheriffs Way and London Road.

Monday 22 August - Tuesday 23 August: Derby Road between Park Street & Bute Avenue
Lane closure for camera maintenance works 

Monday 22 August - Friday 2 September: Hucknall Lane – Junction Sandhurst Road to outside 189
Lane closure for City Fibre works 

Monday 22 August - Sunday 4 September: Bagnall Road, Sycamore Rise & Babbington Drive
Four way signals for Cadent Gas works

Tuesday 23 August - Monday 29 August: At junction with Merchant Street
Closing lane on Main Street at junction with Merchant Street to excavate for electric works

Friday 23 July 2021 - May 2023: High Cross Street (city centre)
Road closure between Heathcoat Street and Western Street due to demolition works.

Monday 9 May 2022 - 31 March 2023: Hucknall Road improvements
Lane closures for the construction of new cycle route between Kersall Drive & Bestwood Road. 

  • Next phase: Monday 1 August - Friday 3 September
    24 hour inbound road closure between Bestwood Park Drive and Top Valley Way for 5 weeks. Night works for resurfacing will follow for 5 nights (20.00 – 06.00hrs) from 5 September 2022. Read more about these works on our page.

Monday 21 February 2022 - Wednesday 31 August 2022: Silverdale roundabout
Lane closures on Silverdale roundabout and approaches from the A52 and A453 for National Highways junction improvements.

In the final phase they'll address the two larger western junctions, Nottingham Knight and Wheatcroft. Find more detailed information on National Highways website.

Rail services 🚆

⚠🚨Strike action🚨⚠

More rail strikes have been called for 13 (ASLEF), 18, and 20 August (RMT). The advice is to avoid travelling by train if you can. Services will be significantly reduced with many lines not running at all. Please check with your operator for the most up to date information.

There will be no Skegness Summer special services on Saturday 20 August, as there will be no services to or from Skegness.
