Hello! You’re probably wondering why you’re getting a random email from me today. Fair Question! Truth is, it’s because my team bought a list of email addresses that belong to voters in the district!

I’m Junaid, the Real Democrat running for Congress in Illinois’ New 8th District. [[link removed]] Unlike my opponent, I’ve taken a pledge to never take a dime of Corporate PAC money. I’m running a people-powered campaign that practices radical honesty.

Which brings me to you! My team is knocking on doors, phonebanking, and texting – but to win against a Corporate Democrat with $13 million in the bank, frankly, I’ve got to talk to as many voters across as many platforms as I can.

This is me in 38 words: Husband; Father; Small Business Owner: Community College Alum; University of Chicago Graduate; Boy Scout Troop Leader; Big Brother; Community Activist; Sugar Lover; Coffee/Tea Equal Opportunist; Self-loathing Shark Tank Fan - and voter disappointed with the status quo.

This is why I am running: We have a Brand New 8th Congressional District that includes large portions of the old 4th & 6th districts!

Way back when, in the old district (where my opponent was elected), I actually volunteered for his campaign – back before he started taking millions of dollars from corporate PACS. Now, he spends more time raising money from the pharmaceutical and oil lobbies than he does fighting to lower prescription drug and gas prices.

My opponent (let’s just call him Raja) lost his way.

But this new District 8 gives us a shot to elect someone who will fight for us in D.C.
