On election night, Canadians chose a positive vision for the future, not the politics of division and fear.
2019 is coming to a close, friend.
And this was a big year for us as Canadians, and for our movement. We have a lot to celebrate, and as I look forward to the year ahead, I’ve also been reflecting on the progress that you’ve helped make possible.
Together, we earned another mandate to keep Canada moving forward – with the help of record-breaking grassroots fundraising support throughout the year, and more than 90,000 volunteers who made more than 21 million knocks and calls before and during the campaign.
On election night, Canadians chose a positive vision for the future, not the politics of division and fear. They chose a real plan for the middle class, not cuts and austerity. They sent this Liberal team back to Parliament so we can work together to keep delivering real change for all Canadians.
So that’s what we’re going to do. We are the party of the Charter, and our vision for the path forward includes everyone – newcomers and women, Indigenous people and LGBTQ2 communities. That is something worth fighting for.
Canadians have been clear that they want real action on climate change, on making life more affordable for the middle class, on strengthening gun laws, and on reconciliation. These are big challenges, friend. But I know that we have the team – and the plan – to keep moving forward.
We’re ready to find common ground and shared purpose. And frankly, I can’t think of a better time of year to do that. The holidays are a chance to reflect on what brings us together. Because we’re all working toward the same goal – a better country for today and a brighter future for our kids.
I know that none of our work to move Canada forward would be possible without a lot of hope and hard work. That’s why this December I’m hoping that you will stand behind the progress that we’re making together by helping us reach our $500,000 mid-month online fundraising goal by tomorrow at midnight – because there’s much more hard work ahead of us in 2020 and beyond.
