This can’t keep happening

John,
I know you’ve been getting a lot of fundraising emails over the past few days, but this isn’t one of them.
This week, a Florida court ruled that a 16-year-old girl in the child welfare system wasn’t “mature” enough to have a wanted abortion — that she should become a mother instead.
Go back and reread that sentence.
A Florida court got to decide that a young girl wasn’t mature enough to receive abortion services, but was mature enough to have a baby.
When we talk about the fight for reproductive rights in Florida, this is what we’re fighting against, John — outdated, cruel, and inhumane laws meant to punish and control women and girls in our state.
So today, I’m not asking for money. I’m simply asking you to stand with me — and with Senate Democrats across the state — in the fight for a woman’s right to choose. Click here to add your name. [[link removed]]

Moving forward, we’re going to see more stories like this. We’ll see teenage girls, some even younger, forced to give birth against their will. We may even see women and girls die from pregnancy complications because they’re denied the reproductive care they need.
But we have the power to put a stop to all of this.
Earlier this month, women in Kansas came together, defied the odds, and won the fight to protect reproductive freedom. And we can do it again, right here in Florida.
If we’re going to win this fight, we must stand together, make our voices heard, and fight harder than we’ve ever fought before. So, if you’re with us, click here to add your name and join our fight for women’s rights. [[link removed]]
Thank you for standing with us.
— Claire
