John,

This month, Democrats in the U.S. Senate delivered landmark legislation that will lower costs for Granite Staters and strengthen this country’s economy all while investing in the fight against climate change and taking on corporate special interests. The Inflation Reduction Act is a major victory for New Hampshire and this country.

But, John, this victory was only possible thanks to the 1,017 votes that secured this seat in 2016.

That's right. I won this seat by less than half of a percentage point – one of the closest Senate races in history.

It was thanks to those 1,017 votes that Senate Democrats saved the Affordable Care Act in 2017, passed the American Rescue Plan in 2021, confirmed the first Black woman to the Supreme Court in 2022, and now, helped pass the Inflation Reduction Act.

That's the difference 1,017 votes make.

But because the GOP only needs to flip one seat to take the Senate, that 1,017 vote margin is also the reason Republicans see New Hampshire as one of their best chances at taking back the majority.

And they're not wrong. Political experts are calling New Hampshire one of the most likely seats to flip, and public polling has me down by 2 points to an extreme GOP opponent.

With so much on the line this election, 1,017 votes is too close for comfort. That's why I'm calling on you. Protecting this seat and our Democratic Senate majority is only possible with your help.

Your contribution today will have a bigger impact in New Hampshire than it will anywhere else. So I hope I can count on you.

Thank you for everything.

With every good wish,
Maggie Hassan
