On Tuesday, the most sweeping marijuana reform bill ever was introduced in Congress. The Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement Act (MORE Act) would de-schedule marijuana at the federal level and begin to repair the extensive damage done by prohibition.

The MORE Act is truly groundbreaking legislation – going further than any other federal marijuana bill. We’ve worked with our allies in Congress to get this bill introduced. Now, we need your help to move this bill forward.

Even though 11 states have legalized marijuana and 33 have legalized medical marijuana, people still face severe consequences because marijuana carries the most restrictive federal classification possible – Schedule 1.

In addition to removing marijuana from the Controlled Substances Act, the MORE Act would allow people with marijuana convictions to petition for resentencing and expungement and create equitable licensing programs that benefit communities most impacted by prohibition.

The MORE Act is part of the unprecedented momentum in Congress on marijuana reform. Earlier this month, the House Judiciary Committee held the first ever congressional hearing devoted to ending marijuana prohibition. You can help us keep the pressure on Congress by making a donation to DPA today.

The MORE Act would also correct historic injustices associated with prohibition, including the denial of federal benefits and student financial aid because of marijuana use, and protect immigrants from deportation or denial of citizenship based solely on a marijuana infraction.

The bill would also finally permit the marijuana industry to access financial services that other legal businesses already use. It would also enable research and allow Veterans Administration doctors to recommend medical marijuana without risk of federal prosecution.

A vast majority of Americans like you know that marijuana prohibition has not just failed but destroyed people’s lives. Please make a gift to DPA today so we can build on this momentum and finally end the war on marijuana.
