Dear John,

MORRISON'S PANDEMIC POWER GRAB STRENGTHENS CASE FOR COVID ROYAL COMMISSION

Revelations that former Prime Minister Scott Morrison appointed himself to several ministries in secret has strengthened the case for a comprehensive Royal Commission into the management of the COVID-19 pandemic by all Australian governments.

One Nation leader Senator Pauline Hanson said Mr Morrison’s overreach of authority while avoiding any scrutiny was symptomatic of the contempt shown for the Australian people by all governments during the pandemic.

“I’ve always said Mr Morrison was arrogant, but this well and truly takes the cake,” Senator Hanson said. “It beggars belief he appointed himself to several ministerial positions without notifying Parliament, the people or even his own Cabinet ministers.

“Yet it’s part and parcel of the culture of secrecy and arrogance that was fostered by all Australian governments at the height of the pandemic.

“Expert health advice that was relied upon to justify lockdowns which destroyed families, jobs, businesses and the economy is still being kept secret. More than two years after the beginning of the pandemic, Australians are still being kept in the dark about the number of people who have died from COVID-19, and the number of people whose health was adversely affected by COVID-19 vaccines.

“Thousands of Australians have been arrogantly demonised by these same governments for standing up for their individual rights and freedoms by refusing the wonder-jabs. Extraordinary power was wielded over the Australian people under emergency management declarations, some of which are now permanently enshrined in law to the detriment of the principles of Australian democracy.

“There must be an accounting, and only a Royal Commission has the coercive powers to achieve it. The Australian people have the right to know everything about how this wrenching, unprecedented event was managed by the governments who serve them.”

ONE NATION’S VICTORIAN CAMPAIGN UNDERWAY

One Nation is gearing up for a strong campaign in the coming Victorian state election on 26 November.

For years now Victoria has languished under the dictatorial Andrews Labor government with little accountability and no effective opposition, leaving One Nation the only truly conservative party contesting the election.

Governance will be a key issue in the election according to lead One Nation candidate Warren Pickering.

“We’re demanding more transparency and accountability, and for the implementation of recommendations from the Independent Broad-based Anti-Corruption Commission (IBAC) and the Victorian Ombudsman,” Warren said.

“Accountability has not been a priority for the Andrews government, with the Premier skating investigations into the misuse of taxpayers’ funds while his ministers fall so like many dominoes.

“We’ll also push hard for full cooperation from Victoria in a Royal Commission on the management of the COVID-19 pandemic by all Australian governments. The state continues to reel from the disastrous and lengthy lockdowns imposed on the Victorian community at the height of the pandemic.”

Warren said energy security would also be an important campaign issue in Victoria.

“Victoria is sitting on vast reserves of natural gas at a time when Australia’s entire east coast is struggling with energy shortages,” he said. “Storage at Geelong must be expanded so Australia can meet the requirement to have 90 days of fuel reserves, the proposed interconnector for Bass Strait must be built and more coal-fired power needs to be in Victoria’s energy mix.

“Successive governments have let Victorians down with respect to infrastructure, focusing on light rail in metropolitan areas while ignoring the needs of regional Victoria. We need much greater planning and investment in ‘state-building’ infrastructure – an investment in our future productivity and prosperity.

“We’ll also have a strong focus on addressing the housing crisis in Victoria, pressuring councils to remove excessive red tape which is preventing residential land from being released in a timely fashion, and banning the sale of residential property to foreigners and non-residents.”

THE GREAT COUNCIL RATES DEBATE

<[link removed]>

Every year it seems that council rates climb higher and higher but are taxpayers getting their money's worth?

This was the topic of a debate that featured One Nation spokesperson James Ashby who argued strongly that councils needed to be reigning in their wasteful spending.

So, this week One Nation is asking where you stand on the great rates debate, do you feel ripped off by your local councils? Should they be allowed to set their own rates, or should levels be capped?”

We want to know, are you happy with your local council or are you sick and tired of them crying poor while wasting your hard-earned dollars on frivolous nonsense?

We'd love to hear your thoughts. Visit our Facebook page via the link below and let us know in the comments how your council fares, tell us how high your rates are climbing, and feel free to share any wasteful spending horror stories.
