No-contact advisory issued for the west side of Dyes Inlet due to a sewage spill

No-contact advisory in effect through Aug. 24. A recreational shellfish harvesting advisory is in effect through Sept. 8.

*"This spill was originally reported in the Kitsap Sun as 7,700 gallons; however, only 280 gallons is estimated to have reached the shoreline area of Dyes Inlet."*

*Affected area:* West side of Dyes Inlet along the Chico shoreline. See map below.

*No-contact advisory:?*A no-contact advisory is in effect through Aug. 24.

During a no-contact advisory, the public is advised to avoid contact with water in the affected area. The Health District recommends against swimming, wading, or types of water recreation that could cause water to be swallowed or get into the mouth, nose or eyes. People should also avoid direct skin contact if possible and immediately wash with soap and clean water if they have exposure to the water.?

*Shellfish Harvesting Closure:*?A shellfish harvesting advisory is in effect through Sept. 8.

The public is advised to not harvest shellfish in the affected area during this closure period. All existing shellfish advisories remain in effect. Go to?doh.wa.gov/shellfishsafety [ [link removed] ]?for details.
